When you arrive we perform a focused examination and take X-rays to assess the situation. Our goal is to diagnose quickly, relieve your pain, and give you a clear picture of what needs to happen next.

Emergency Treatment

Depending on the situation we will treat the problem directly on the same visit wherever possible. This may include tooth repair, temporary or permanent restoration, infection management, or stabilization to protect the tooth until a follow-up appointment.

Follow-Up Plan

After addressing the immediate emergency we outline the next steps. Some situations are fully resolved in one visit. Others require a follow-up for a permanent restoration or further treatment. You leave with a clear plan and no surprises.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Severe pain, swelling, bleeding, knocked-out or broken teeth, lost crowns or fillings, and abscesses are all dental emergencies. If you are in significant discomfort or something feels seriously wrong, call us. We will help you decide if you need to come in immediately.

What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?

Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently if dirty. Keep it moist by placing it in milk or holding it between your cheek and gum. Call us immediately and come in within 30 minutes if possible.

Do I need to be an existing patient to be seen for an emergency?

No. We welcome new patients in emergency situations. Call (212) 949-6105 and our team will fit you in as quickly as possible regardless of whether you have been to our practice before.

When should I go to the ER instead of a dentist?

Go to the emergency room for facial swelling that is spreading rapidly, difficulty breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or any situation you believe is life-threatening. For dental pain and trauma, call our office and come to us.
